this week we welcome Icelandic beatsmith Alli Abstrakt.....
- Sunday Morning: Name your 3 biggest life influences... why?
Woah.. there's no easing in to it here….
Alli Abstrakt: First I got to go with poetry in motion, basketball, it taught me self-discipline and competitiveness.
Music comes right after basketball. Music can change your mood in a heartbeat.
You could be walking your dog with your iPod on shuffle, and then suddenly Eye of the tiger starts playing.
You automatically start running, dodging fake bullets, throwing yourself behind cars.. you catch the drift..
I made that last one really long cause I don't really have a third one.
- SM: Verbally portray your sound....
A: Warm jazzy smooth elevator music meets boom bap.
- SM: Now describe Abstrakt Idea in tweet format (less than 140 characters, twitter-related abbreviations)
A: Chillin, Ballin, Headbobbing, Relaxed, Easy-Going.. wait a minute.. this isn't an online dating service is it?
- SM: If you were given the opportunity to collaborate with any artisan (visual, audible, edible).... who? .... why?
A: I'd have to go with Common, he has influenced me a lot over the years with his killer lyrics and flow.
J Dilla is a very close second though.
- SM: If you could teach listeners one thing through inspiration drawn from your music what would it be?
A: Follow your dreams, don't let anything hold you back.
- SM: This a tough one.... list your favorite
Beats _______√______
Blunt _____________
Burger____________
- SM: Taking that into consideration, if you could only indulge in one answer from the previous question, which would it be?
A: I'd have to go with beats, although these 3 compliment each other very well.
- SM: I would be really __miserable__ if __P. Diddy__ listened to my music....
- SM: Something about Iceland everyone needs to know....
A: We have our own native language, icelandic, yet we are forced to study danish in grade school… what the fuck.
Oh, and there's a dick museum in 'Húsavík'.
- SM: Define Success...
A: To me, success is when you achieve a goal you've been chasing and gaining respect among peers in doing so.
